Gary Talley is one of Nashville’s most respected guitarists. An original member of “The Boxtops” ( Cry Like A Baby / The Letter ) Gary has played on albums from Willie Nelson to Tammy Wynette. He is an in-demand teacher in town and has taught many artists and writers including Pam Tillis and Sherrie Austin. This is the best instructional video for the intermediate guitarist I’ve seen. Gary covers the basis for the Nashville number system as well as proper strumming technique for the country sound. Also included are: fingerpicking, percussive playing, and passing chords that give your song life. He includes tips on the most common mistakes that songwriters make when they structure the rhythm of their song. If you can already play chords but need to add that extra lift to your playing then this video and accompanying chart book is a must. It might be the best investment you could make early on.
